Ah so glad you finally decided to finish this! :D The chip/arcade effects you used in this are so perfect! I love the glitch and chiptune elements blasting along side the rock and the orchestral backing just gives it so much power and grandness, it's just too much awesome in one song :D I also really like the breaks in this, especially at around 3:10 when the new section comes in. Definitely one of my favourites from you recently :D well done!

Waterflame responds:

Thank you :D !! That means a lot! Glad you liked it :D

wow! nice work man! I really love how stylized your chiptune is :D has that classic nostalgia essence with beefy modernised production quality. The song is bad ass also, especially the work with the little breaks and stumbling drum rolls, so many precise elements that bring this track together :D Keep it up!

basheman responds:

Ah thanks man for a great review! :D
I shall definetely try to keep it up! ;)

Terrific work man! I love your trance variation of the melody! that alone makes it it's own track in a way :D The synths make the whole thing sound adorable, super bubbly and cute ^^ Again, nice work you totally did the original justice and made it completely your own!

Waterflame responds:

Thanks man :D ! it was a blast to make, love that melody still :D

Dude this is sooo super epic! The composition is brilliant and the mixing is spot on. I can't give much constructive criticism since your rock tracks out-ranks mine by far. However, I will suggest that you should try another attempt in the same style but with a grand orchestral backing instead. When composed like this it could turn out to be something huge and spectacular! It's definitely something I'd be interested in seeing :D.

If I had to be picky, I'd say the 8-bit lead towards the end needs boosting a little bit. At that point it becomes the main focus but is drowned out by the rhythm guitar and it doesn't get to see much light. That's all really... Super great work man, scouted and followed. I look forward to your future projects.

8-bitheroes responds:

Thanks for the kind words, its much appreciated! i agree with you on the 8-bit section it definitely needs a volume boost. At the moment all my mixing is done on a pair of headfones :/ so i dont always hear these things until i play them on another device.
I liked the idea about implementing an orchestra into my songs, i think it would be something i would like to experiment with in future tracks.

Hey man I don't know why you're being so hard on yourself in the author comments! this track is super funky! Has a real cool drive and a slick bass line! I think the silliness gives it a lot of character that you don't see in many tracks. I really like the break down and build up section at 1:46 as well xP A real cheesy approach in a wacky track! Nice work!

AeronMusic responds:

Thanks Duttie! Haha, yeah im hard for myself when it comes to my own music :\ I have a large amount of projects, but i cant get good songs out of it. (in my opinion then). Love your 'expressions' in this comment, it fits very well! Many thanks again! ;D

Now this is pretty awesome! I love fast percussion sequences and the drums in this where no exception, they where amazing! I love the subtle electronic elements at the intro and I especially love the hammering timpani rolls later on. Also, the chords you created with the brass and strings in the second section where so perfect! They added the right amount of tension needed in a chase scene, to give it that sense of danger!

However, I do have some problems. The strings in the first segment felt a little... weak to me. It's like as the notes get higher the velocity gets lower and it doesn't quite balance out right, I think it should be the other way around. It seems like they where made to build suspense but as it get softer the tension fades and it doesn't quite compliment the impact that the percussion is providing. I also think they could benefit from being layered with some heavier strings to give them a little more thickness.

I also didn't feel comfortable with the transition around 0:32. The strings just stop completely and it crashes into this percussive ambient segment. Don't get me wrong, that segment super awesome! It builds up nicely for the brass to come in and I love the effects you used to provide this jungle-like atmosphere. My problem is it just kinda comes in at random and feels disconnected to the first part and in a track like this everything needs to flow nicely and have each segment morph into each other. It may help to have the strings continue with the same rhythm but take a more atonal role or something like that.

Apart from that though, it's a really solid chase theme! My points where pretty nit-picky since the mix and over-all composition was spot-on. It sounds really professional! 4 stars!

P.S. I also want to add that it reminds me of the lost world music in sonic adventure :3 one of my favourite soundtracks and this really brought me back :) well done!

Definitely your best track this year man! it's so spot on I can't stand it! You absolutely nailed that hideki naganuma style funk :D I'd be suprised if this doesn't end up in a future jetset radio title :D amazing work!

Waterflame responds:

thanks man :D <3 !! that would be super mega awesome. :o

This is splendid man! I really like how everything is transitioned so smoothly, how all these different elements mould together when they switch around. No doubt the guitar work is the highlight of this track. Completely flawless in that aspect, I wish I had that kind of guitar skill.

It's definitely epic man! It has a more of a lone hero sense of epic rather than a big grand army kind of epic, but that's still just as good! if not better!

My only issue was probably the ending. It comes to a sudden halt just when you think it's about to get even bigger! It could have more of an impact if it where built up with an ongoing layer of orchestral sounds and clashes with an ever building guitar solo. Then have it clash and ring out on the final note to really leave a mark :). That's just my thoughts.

Still great work man

MetalRenard responds:

Thanks!!!
Well the idea of the song means that it changes a lot and never over-uses a certain element and I felt that, instead of making it better, repeating the end with some minor changes would actually take away from the whole.
It's a study of life and happiness which are both fleeting. This is why I ended it that way - Life, and this song wouldn't be so special to me if they weren't that way.

This is so bad ass! such a true style to class sega! :D I could totally battle on a high speed train ride to this :D and I love the lil bass moment at the end :P terrific work!

Waterflame responds:

Thank you man :D haha! awesome

Great work man! it's a pretty creative mix of orchestral, chiptune & rock! as well as being your old classic :P this is practically the waterflame theme song :D well done!

Waterflame responds:

Thank you man :D ! haha i know right
